Risk Likelihood

Last updated: November 12, 2025

This article explains how to assess and score the likelihood of a risk occurring within Mycroft. Likelihood scoring helps quantify how probable it is that a risk will materialize, supporting more accurate risk prioritization and mitigation planning.

Risk Score

Likelihood

1

Rare: Very unlikely to occur, perhaps once in 10+ years.

2

Unlikely: Not expected to happen but possible, maybe once in 5-10 years.

3

Possible: Could occur at some point, perhaps annually.

4

Likely: Will probably occur in most circumstances, maybe several times per year.

5

Almost Certain: Expected to occur frequently, perhaps monthly or more often.

Each risk should be assigned a likelihood rating based on historical data, control effectiveness, and expert judgment to support consistent and objective risk scoring.
