Deactivating Default Documents
Last updated: March 30, 2026
Overview
Default documents are provided by Mycroft for specific frameworks. If a default document does not apply to your organization, you can deactivate it. Deactivating excludes the document from compliance metrics while maintaining an audit trail.
When to Use
A default document is not relevant to your organization.
You want to exclude a document from compliance calculations.
You need to narrow the set of active documents for reporting.
How to Deactivate a Default Document
To deactivate a default document:
Navigate to Compliance → Documents and open the document (click the document name).
Click Options and select Deactivate document.
In the dialog, confirm the document name and enter a reason for deactivation.
Click Deactivate (or the confirm button) to complete.
The document will show as "Deactivated" and will not be included in compliance metrics. The reason is stored for audit purposes.
Reactivating Documents
If a document is already deactivated, an Activate option appears (e.g., in the header or Options). Use it to reactivate the document so it is included in metrics again.
Important: Only documents that are not already deactivated show Deactivate document. Default documents can be deactivated but not deleted. Custom documents can be both deactivated and deleted.
Note: You can view all deactivated documents from the Documents list view via More → View deactivated (when viewing all documents) or More → View all (when viewing deactivated only).
